About Marcy Vanity

Marcy Vanity exists for one reason: to find out whether the cheap version is actually good.

Beauty pricing stopped making sense somewhere along the way. A concealer is $29. A blush is $23. A bottle of perfume is $300. Meanwhile a $7 version of the same thing sits two aisles over, and nobody with anything to gain will tell you straight whether it holds up.

That is the whole job here. I buy the expensive one and the cheap one, wear them side by side, and write down what happens.

How things get tested

  • Products are bought with my own money. If something is ever sent free or paid for, the post says so at the top.
  • Comparisons are worn at the same time, on the same face, on the same day, so the conditions match.
  • Wear tests run a full day, and the hour something breaks down gets written down, because that is the hour that decides whether a dupe is worth it.
  • When a budget product loses, the post says it lost. A list where everything is a winner is a catalog, not a review.

What you will find here

  • Dupe Alerts — the cheap version tested against the original.
  • Worth It or Not — whether a product people keep asking about earns its price.
  • Budget Routines — full skincare and makeup routines built under a set dollar amount.
  • Product Reviews — one product, tested properly, over time.

How this site makes money

Through affiliate links. If you buy something through a link here, the retailer pays a small commission and you pay the same price you would have paid anyway. No brand pays for a spot on a list, and no commission changes a verdict. The full explanation is on the affiliate disclosure page.
